Introduction:

In this section, I will set out what I will do in my portfolio. I will explain the purposes for assembling the portfolio, and will tell the order of the content which is included. Here, you will find a preview of my conclusions. I will answer the following questions: What have I accomplished? How have I arrived at True North? What do I understand. First, I would like to set out the purpose for doing this portfolio. There are a few. The first is to show that I am able to operate the following digital literacies: tumblr, Twitter, Flickr and Wikispaces. By visiting the artifacts that I have supplied, you can see that I am able to operate these genres. The second purpose for completing my Eportfolio is to utilize these digital literacies to show the journey on which my thinking has traveled, and where my thinking is heading. A third purpose for the Eportfolio is to show how I am beginning to arrive at my True North. The fourth purpose for the Eportfolio is to showcase the understandings that I have come to over the last three weeks. The order in which my page should be read is this page, the introduction, Blog in Full, Blog selections, Twitter, My Twitter Evidence, Flickr, Webquest, Project Understanding, Other Artifacts, and finally Conclusion.

Here, I will outline what I feel that I have accomplished. I feel that I have really learned what a community of practice is by being part of one. The people in my technology class are all working with the same tools and vocabulary, and what we all want to do is become better teachers of foreign languages through the use of technology, pedagogy, language and philosophy. Besides being part of the community of practice, I have participated in discussions on verbal and digital levels. I have utilized metalanguage to improve my understanding of terminology used in tech class. Another accomplishment that I feel that I have under my belt is to think and rethink what I have done. Although I was familiar with this practice before the Summer 2011 term, I feel that I have gotten much better at thinking and rethinking what I have done. I have also learned to be more receptive to critique, and I have learned to take critique as a helpful tool, not as a criticism. This was a difficult lesson for me, and I am still learning the ropes.
